Killer Bean Weapon Modifiers — Mechanics Explained

Every gun in Killer Bean spawns with 1–3 random modifiers. The same weapon with the right rolls goes from B‑tier to S‑tier — and the wrong rolls make an S‑tier weapon feel like a peashooter. This page documents every modifier in the current EA build, what it actually does in numbers, and the god‑roll combos the community is hunting.

📖 How modifiers work: when a gun drops, the game rolls 1–3 modifiers from a weighted pool. Rarer modifiers (Phoenix Coil, Glass Cannon) appear ~5% of the time. Modifiers stack multiplicatively with the base gun stats, so a Glass Cannon + Crit Streak + Bean‑Seeking Revolver Bean is the highest theoretical DPS in the game.

Common modifier

Bean‑Seeking

Projectiles curve toward the nearest enemy within 8 m. Stacks with bullet‑time for absurd homing chains.

Uncommon modifier

Explosive Rounds

Each shot detonates on impact for 25% of base damage in a 3 m radius. Doubles effective DPS vs. groups.

Uncommon modifier

Crit Streak

Every 3rd consecutive hit is a guaranteed critical (x2.5 damage).

Rare modifier

Slowing Projectile

Hits apply a 40% slow for 2 s. Excellent vs. melee swarms and bosses with charge attacks.

Rare modifier

Penetrator

Projectiles pass through up to 3 enemies. Lets you break miniboss + adds formations without reloading.

Epic modifier

Phoenix Coil

Reloading while at low health ignites nearby enemies. Pairs with Revolver Bean's fast reload for a self‑sufficient tank build.

Common modifier

Loot Magnet

Increases pickup radius by 200%. Hidden god‑roll for XP farming — see /xp‑farm.

Epic modifier

Glass Cannon

+60% damage, −50% magazine size. Highest theoretical DPS in the game.

God‑roll combos (community meta)

S‑tier build

Revolver Bean — Glass Cannon + Crit Streak + Phoenix Coil

Highest theoretical DPS in the game. Glass Cannon +60% damage with −50% magazine, Crit Streak multiplies on the 3rd hit, and Phoenix Coil self‑heals on reload. The reload cancel is mandatory — practice the 0.4s window.

S‑tier build

Burrito Launcher — Bean‑Seeking + Explosive Rounds

The crowd‑control god roll. Projectiles home in AND explode on impact. This combo is why the Burrito Launcher is S‑tier for The Party mode.

A‑tier build

SMG Bean — Explosive Rounds + Loot Magnet

The XP‑farming build. Explosive Rounds double the SMG's already high tick rate, and Loot Magnet triples the pickup radius. See our XP farm guide.

A‑tier build

Shadow Shotgun — Slowing + Penetrator

The control build. Slowing locks melee enemies in place, Penetrator lets one blast hit 3 of them. Best for indoor Shadow Troop camps.

Frequently asked about modifiers

Can you re‑roll weapon modifiers?
Not in the current EA build. Jeff Lew has hinted at a crafting system in a future update, but right now you're at the mercy of RNG. The fastest way to test rolls is Conquest mode — kills there drop the most weapons per hour.
Do modifiers stack across weapons?
No — modifiers are per‑weapon. Holding two guns with the same modifier does not give you a double effect.
What's the rarest modifier?
Phoenix Coil and Glass Cannon are both Epic rarity, with a combined drop rate under 5% on most guns. The Revolver Bean has the highest natural chance of rolling one of them.
